Types of Acne
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when a sebum is trapped inside the skin by clogged pores. This sebum gets mixed with cells from the lining of the follicle causing the bacteria to grow in the clogged pores. These bacteria then produce an enzyme that can cause inflammation which results in what we know as pimples, Blackheads And Whiteheads. Sometimes it also includes deeper skin lesions called cysts.
Lesions are also referred as comedones. Comedones are enlarged hair follicles plugged with sebum, skin cells and bacteria. It is important to know which type of acne you have so you can choose what right product or Treatment that can best help your situation.
| Whiteheads |

Whiteheads are called closed comedones. They typically appear on your skin as small whitish bumps and stays under the skin.

| Blackheads |

Blackheads Are called open comedones. They typically caused by your skin producing too much oil. And when exposed to air turns black in color. Sometimes it turns yellow because of buildup of melanin (skin’s dark pigment). Blackheads are not caused by dirt as a lot of people think.

| Papules |
 |
Papules are small and pink in color. It’s basically an inflamed whiteheads and tender to the touch. Unlike other pimples these doesn’t contain any pus so don’t try to squeeze or pop them or you might risk having scar.

| Pustules |
 |
Pustules are small, rounded lesions. They are red in color with yellowish or whitish pus. While inflamed, pustules are generally painless and doesn’t contain a lot of bacteria. In fact, the inflammation is caused by chemical irritation from fatty acids.

| Nodules |
 |
Nodules are severely inflamed, hard lesions lodged deep within the skin. It is severely painful and contain no pus. This may persist for weeks or months and may develop into a cysts.

| Cysts |
 |
Cysts are severely inflamed, soft lesions lodged deep within the skin. It's severely painful and contain pus.
